For those of us who are already catching up on the headlines, a few words on the acquisition.
Facebook could only make too many attempts to totally take complete control over our mobile devices. Facebook knows a helluva lot about us, but not anything that's happening outside of it's platform. Facebook gathers data about who we're talking to, what we're talking about, and where we're going.
But Facebook doesn't know if we're driving, what we're buying, and if we take our mobile phone when we're out biking.
This is going to change.
The Onavo acquisition enables Facebook to have pretty detailed data about what we're doing outside it's platform- data that is becoming richer by the day (richer meaning with information from our physical world:- Our mobile device can know if we're wearing glasses, who we're meeting up with soon, if we're feeling down, etc'...).
Facebook is slowly taking on what Google has been owning up until now. It's also a smart decision, which could have been made by Amazon in 2 years from now.
This will not only be interesting, but will force Google to pioneer in collection of physical data about us (and not only our location...)
